COVINGTON (June 7, 2018) – Laura Tobin, most recently vice president of Gallinghouse Marketing + Creative, has been named president of the Covington-based agency as well as associate publisher at Sophisticated Woman magazine following the death of company president and publisher Joanne Gallinghouse in May, 2018.
A veteran of the advertising industry, Tobin has been with the agency for 17 years. In addition to heading Gallinghouse Marketing, she will work in partnership with Sophisticated Woman magazine sales director Lorie Hollis and editor Chelsea Adams to execute the day to day operations of the magazine. Tobin is well equipped to guide the businesses’ continued growth as she led both companies in years past when Gallinghouse took a leave of absence to care for her husband.
“Joanne’s creativity, work ethic and passion for helping clients solve communications challenges are the guiding principles of both the agency and the magazine,” Tobin said. “The best way to honor her legacy is continuing the work she loved. Joanne’s family supports the continuation of both businesses, and we want our clients and partners to know that Gallinghouse Marketing + Creative and Sophisticated Woman are here to stay.”
Gallinghouse established Gallinghouse Marketing + Creative in 1986 as one of the first full-service marketing agencies on the Northshore. She founded Sophisticated Woman magazine in 1993 and The Northshore’s Best readers’ choice survey in 2006.
“Joanne’s passing is the biggest challenge we will face as a company, yet she prepared us by setting the perfect example of leadership under fire,” Tobin said. “She was a forward-thinking, solutions-oriented leader whose influence will be ever-present moving forward.”
